Town of Dillon welcomes back award-winning Ice Castles

The Dillon Ice Castles are set to return to Town Park for the 2019-2020 winter season. The Dillon Town Council unanimously voted to approve the authorization for the town to enter into a new contract with Ice Castles LLC.

Ice Castles LLC is an award-winning frozen attraction, built using thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists.  As an illustration, the castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, fountains and much more.

Earlier this year, the town completed a $1.2 million improvement plan for the infrastructure surrounding the Dillon Town Park. Primarily the improvements targeted parking and roadway upgrades along with replacing two of the park’s tennis courts.  Accordingly, the Town Park improvements are set to continue into next spring. With plans to tear up the lawn next summer, Ice Castles have a chance to prove the castles can come and go without any major damage.

The historic popularity for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the Ice Castles in Dillon has led to an agreement allowing Ice Castles to utilize the land from October 15th to May 30th.  In fact, Dillon town staff and Ice Castle representatives continue to discuss a multi-year deal between both entities.

Long Term Community Support

Dillon city officials estimate the city garnered approximately $2 million in media exposure from the Ice Castles to the town through its most recent season.  Additionally, the town saw steady sales tax revenues that have maintained a positive impact to the town core area since 2017. Local businesses in the area have also expressed the Ice Castles influence increases patronage during the winter months.

Representatives with Ice Castles will be preparing for the build as early as this week! Plan on visiting Dillon this amazing, one of a kind frozen artistic masterpiece this winter season.
