For those with young children or planning for future children, moving to a new community and putting down new roots can be intimidating. One such program is Team Summit Colorado. Team Summit “has been elevating youth athletes since the 1970s” through their ski and snowboard programs that aim to develop the athlete as a whole. In addition to nurturing young athletes, Team Summit is committed to funding opportunities for lower-income families through their non-profit.
Team Summit has had an incredibly successful run the last few winter seasons, and this past winter was no exception.
Last month, Team Summit Colorado was awarded “Alpine Club of the Year” by U.S. Ski and Snowboard (USSA) and the Annual U.S. Ski and Snowboard Club Excellence Conference in Park City, Utah.
USSA recognized Team Summit for providing a place for every athlete to find their level of excellence. The local program received the award thanks to the leadership of Team Summit Colorado Executive Director C.B. Bechtel and Alpine Director Aldo Radamus.
Bechtel and Radamus helped spearhead a strong culture within the Alpine program and the club.
“Team Summit is honored to be recognized by U.S. Ski & Snowboard as Alpine Club of the Year,” Bechtel told the Summit Daily News. “We take pride in our philosophy of ‘personal podiums.’ This allows every athlete to measure success based on their individual desires and goals.”
Many Team Summit athletes have achieved podium finishes in the last few years. This past season, four athletes qualified for the National Development Group, and another three for the U18 and U16 National Championships each.
