The 22nd Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge is coming to Frisco, Colorado the weekend of June 19th!  This Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition has attracted 70 participating teams from across the country.  Come hungry to the event and put your taste buds to the test, as each team competes for the ultimate title of Best BBQer in the Rocky Mountains!

The first barbecue challenge was held in 1993 with a total of 12 participating teams.  Originally, the competition took place at the Frisco Historic Park and eventually expanded to include 2 blocks of Main Street.  This year, downtown Frisco will close off 6 blocks on Main Street, as well as numerous side streets, to accommodate growing crowds at the event.

Nora Gilbertson, the Event Manager for the Town of Frisco commented, “The Colorado Barbecue Challenge kicks off summer in the High Country.  Not only is this an amazing event for Foodies, but there is tons of live music and entertainment all set within our cute town surrounded by mountains.”

Marcia Ball will kick of the weekend with a live, outdoor concert on June 18th at 8 PM. Other acts will perform throughout each day of the barbecue challenge.  Performers include Stop Light Observation, Mama Magnolia, Pato Banton and the Now Generation, the Samples, Beau Thomas, Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line.
