Summit Foundation Grants More Than One Million

Published: March 13, 2017

In December of 2016, the Summit Foundation Board of Trustees gave over one million dollars to local nonprofits within Summit County and other nearby communities. By the end of 2016, the Summit Foundation community grant allocations for the year totaled to over $1.7 million.

These grants are all made possible by over 3,000 generous businesses and individuals that contributed donations to the Summit Foundation throughout 2016.

The majority of the grants by the Summit Foundation are aimed at helping local families. They include programs that offer family support services, access to affordable healthcare and basic needs, early childhood education, and other assistance to ease the high-cost of living and help families thrive.

The wide-range of support also includes financial assistance for the students in the Summit County School System to participate in activities such as academic enrichment programs, arts outreach, after-school care, sports and recreation, and summer programs.

The Summit Foundation Partnered with Vail Resorts EpicPromise (Environmental and Sustainability program) during this last set of contributions to support six grants for high-quality early childhood programs to Breckenridge Montessori, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Denver, Early Childhood Options, Grand Beginnings, Lake Dillon Preschool, and Summit County Preschool.

Since the Summit Foundation started in 1986 they’ve distributed over $25.9 million in grants and scholarships. The largest fundraiser that contributes to the majority of the funds come from the patron pass program, a transferable medallion that is courteously donated through partnership with Vail Resorts, Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain
