Dillon successfully completed the second week of the summer farmers market this last weekend. The farmers market opens each Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM and will continue through the 18th of September. Fresh farm produce, home-cooked meals, live music and outdoor activities make this local event a true mountain experience!
A few great vendors that are new to this year’s farmers market include the Smooth Riders, Wag’s World Orchard and Anne Kurronen. Introducing an eco-friendly, non-traditional blending method, the Smooth Riders encourage customers to blend their own smoothies by means of bike peddling. They’ve created a family friendly experience by providing both a children’s bike and an adult bike so that the whole family can enjoy these healthy beverages! After enjoying a fresh smoothie and 30 seconds of biking exercise, head over to Wag’s World Orchard for great peaches, apples and cherries!
“It’s a beautiful community, great people and we are Colorado-based,” said Nick Orro, the market manager for Wag’s World Orchard. “We’re really proud of this whole farm-to-table movement, if you will, and also the sheer economics of it all. It’s a good market; there’s a huge turnout. It’s a very vibrant market from what we hear and understand. We’re grateful that we’ve been embraced and welcomed to enjoy the festivities.”
Anne Kurronen sells fresh made cheese from a variety of farms in Vail at the farmers market this year. “I’ll be selling ricotta, mozzarella, some flavored cream cheeses and then my specialty is actually a soft sheep’s cheese that is kind of tart and has a lot of flavor,” she said. Meta Yoga will also take part in the festivities this year by providing free outdoor yoga classes in the park! The classes take place from 9 AM to 10:30 AM and a suggested $5 donation that will go to Meta Yoga Studio is encouraged.
