A Fun-Filled Guide to the Fourth of July!

Fourth of July weekend is the true kickoff to summer in Summit County and we’re excited for all the great events planned for this weekend! From art festivals, mountain bike races, garden parties, parades, and lots of live music to choose from – there is something to excite everyone. Check out this fun-filled guide, courtesy of the Breckenridge Tourism Office.

Independence Day 10K Trail Run – This scenic 10k trail race offers up some of the best views in the Breckenridge area, while finishing just in time to catch the Main Street parade and other festivities. 7:00 a.m. start at Carter Park.

The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race – This mountain bike race launches the 4th of July Parade in front of thousands of spectators. Come cheer on riders as they embark on a 50-mile journey on the beautiful trails in and surrounding the Breckenridge area. Register early as this race fills up very quickly. Race will take place on Main Street starting at 9:30am. For more information www.mavsports.com

Main Street Parade – The official parade will start at 10am with the Red, White and Blue Color Guard. The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race will kick off the parade at 9:30 am & it will take 800+ riders ½ hour to get down Main Streets in waves. The main event is a true mountain town spectacle with creative floats, flying candy, and a lot of fun for everyone!

Kids’ Water Activities – A great hit year after year, kids can join the Red, White & Blue Fire Dept. in an old time water fight on Main Street from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

Free Pony Ride- Also from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, everyone is invited to enjoy a free pony ride on Main Street (in front of Blue River Plaza), compliments of Farview horse rescue.

Street Arts Festival (July 2-4) – From noon to 4:00 pm throughout Fourth of July weekend, the Breckenridge Creative Arts District will celebrate street, pavement and graffiti art with 3D murals, chalk drawings, live music, breakdancing, and hands-on workshops at the Breckenridge Arts District campus. Dirty Dozen Brass Band – 2:00 pm, July 4: Free concert at the River Walk Center – Come see the band described as the “world famous music machine, whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances.” They have revitalized the brass band in New Orleans and around the world, progressing from local parties, clubs, baseball games and festivals in their early years to touring nearly constantly in the U.S. and in over 30 other countries on five continents.

National Repertory Orchestra: 4th of July Patriotic Concert 8:00pm – For almost 20 years, the Town of Breckenridge and National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) have collaborated to present a Patriotic Concert each July 4th at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge, CO.

Fireworks (weather and conditions dependent)- 9:45pm A brilliant and dazzling fireworks display is slated to begin at 9:45pm and will be launched near the Gondola parking lots, making them visible throughout town.

33rd Annual July Art Festival July 2-4, 2016 – The 33rd Annual Breckenridge July Art Festival is annually ranked one of the top art shows in the United States. Located at Main Street Station at the corner of Main Street and South Park Ave. More than 100 international artists come together to present ceramics, mixed media, fiber, jewelry, painting, wood, glass, sculpture, and more.
